Who I am

I am William, a maths tutor and a Software Engineer. I love talking about everything engineering. This is where tutoring came from. Besides tutoring, I write books and develop apps around education. Making sure that learners are fully equipped beyond their financial capabilities.

I started tutoring in 2024, and I started Afolics with intentions of reaching as many learners as I possibly can. Now I tutor in person and online. All my tutoring resources will be available on this platform.

How I Improve Learners' Experience

My approach starts with understanding each learner. Because every learner is different. They have different needs and weaknesses.

After understanding the learner, I create a personalized learning plan. In a case where a learner just booked for a single lesson, this will just be more of a question and answer session. As they will ask me specific questions and I will answer them. Then provide more clarity on each question. This ensures that we tackle their weaknesses in just 1 hour.

I then provide learners with extra resources to practice on. Many learners don't have the right resources to equip themselves for tests and exams. To combat the unnecessary expense of physical books, I provide them with free PDF resources.

Regardless of the lesson plan, I periodically check in with learners to see if they retain the information I taught them. If there are any gaps, we would have a chat to understand what the problem could be. Then I advice on how to resolve the problem.

Lastly, I make sure parents are involved in the learning process. This is done by providing them with feedback immediately after each lesson. I then advice parents on how they can support their children at home. In most cases, parents are the ones who have the most influence on their children.
